In addition to offering delicious food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, Sassool is committed to giving back to the community through a variety of programs and events designed to help families. The “Kids Fall in Love with Reading” program is a partnership with CritterKin author and illustrator Jena Ball. The CritterKin series of books and related creativities are designed to help kids fall in love with reading while teaching empathy, kindness and respect for differences.

Starting December 6th of 2016, Jena will be doing in-person readings, creative projects and book signings are Sassool’s two locations to promote literacy. Participants are encouraged to purchase books not only for personal use but to support local schools and classrooms that would welcome additional reading material for their students. Jena offers discounts on purchases. of 10 or more books.

If you would like to purchase books at a discount, and have them ready for pick-up at Jena’s readings on December 6 (Cary) and December 12 (Raleigh) please fill out the order form and mail it to Jena no later than November 14th. You will notice that at the bottom of the order form there is a place for you to write in the name of the school and/or teacher you will be donating books to. We will use this information to create a CritterKin Star with your name and the name of the school on it  to hang on of holiday “Thank You” tree.
