CritterKin is a children’s media property designed to teach kids that animals (critters) are family (kin). Though the concept is straightforward, the implications of what can be achieved when children understand that concept are powerful. We believe:
- Good relationships with pets teach kids empathy, understanding and respect, and help them grow up to be caring, compassionate adults.
- Stories can educate and get kids and their families excited about and involved in rescuing, adopting and caring for animals in their communities.
- Stories about animals are a good way to introduce and explore important topics such as aging, physical differences, bullying, prejudice, and animal cruelty such as puppy mills.
CritterKin currently consists of two illustrated e-books published by Harper Collins with a third on the way.
The second, “Meet the Mutts,” just hit the shelves at the end of October. It introduces all 8 members of the CritterKin pack and their slightly offbeat leader Ms. Jenaia.
